Nina’s educational philosophy is forged in the deeply personal trenches of motherhood and advocacy. As the parent of a neurodivergent child, her perspective was profoundly reshaped when she witnessed her son’s innate love for learning—which had him reading, counting to high numbers, and spelling complex words before entering school—diminish within a traditional public special education setting.

After a subsequent private school placement failed to yield progress, Nina took a radical step: she took her child’s education entirely into her own hands. She painstakingly cultivated a customized homeschool curriculum layered with rich visual and tactile components, ensuring he could genuinely grasp the concepts before him. By tailoring subjects like science and social studies to practical, real-world utility and his specific passions, she unlocked his potential. Today, her son is making steady progress and is on a clear path to earning his high school diploma through a homeschool charter.

From this journey, the core themes Nina returns to again and again are child-centered adaptation and passion-led learning. She firmly believes that educators must take the necessary time to uncover exactly how an individual child absorbs information, rather than forcing them into the rigid, one-size-fits-all mold of traditional brick-and-mortar institutions. In Nina’s view, the curriculum must adapt to the child, never the child to the curriculum.

Nina’s preparation for educational leadership uniquely blends entrepreneurial grit, high-level corporate operations, and direct classroom intervention:

• The Groundwork of Enterprise & Administration: As a former retail business owner (Movements Boutique) and executive leader—including roles as VP of Administration for ALPFA and Director of National Events for Innovative Productions —Nina mastered the mechanics of large-scale organization. Managing complex databases, financial bookkeeping, and national registration systems taught her how to build structured, highly efficient operational frameworks.
• Classroom Advocacy & Systemic Insight: Nina directly translated this operational mastery into public education as a Teacher’s Assistant and Office Assistant at LAUSD’s NAPA Elementary. There, she specialized in providing targeted instructional support for English learners (ELs), designing custom assignments to bridge comprehension gaps, and collaborating with school leadership to resolve student attendance challenges. This dual background as a financial independent contractor and a frontline school assistant gives her a rare, 360-degree view of institutional management and student needs.
